The days have finally come for the golf course to officially close for the summer! Our greens have been sprayed for their first round, and we are in the process of aerifying before we spray again. Through this video and blog post - we want to show you one of the most of fascinating parts of this process, finding the original greens edges! Over a 20 year period, the bermuda grass has slowly enroached in on the bent grass, making the greens smaller and smaller every year. Using a simple metal probe, we are able to determine the original greens edges for every green. We anticpate an average gain of 20% for all 18 holes once the project is complete. Another popular topic of discussion has been the slopes of some of the greens, particular hole 15. Check out our video where you will see we determine the speed of the greens (6 days post spray) to be 11.5, with a slope from the middle of the [existing] green to be a 1.9 - and watch how our golf professional, Brad Edwards, is able to make the ball stop near the hole from two different directions on the green.
